BPC Physio Support at 2025 Maadi Regatta
The 2025 Maadi Regatta, held from March 24-29 at Lake Karapiro, was a thrilling showcase of New Zealand’s top secondary school rowers. Body Performance Clinic was proud to be invited to support these talented teenage athletes over the six-day event, providing essential treatments to keep them in peak condition. Our physiotherapy-led services were a huge success, ensuring the competitors were ready to race and perform at their best.
Body Performance has a soft spot for rowing, given the huge population of rowers that reside in Cambridge, and our director Craig's established career working with High Performance New Zealand's rowing athletes. This is why we jumped at the opportunity to get our emerging talent fully immersed in the world of rowing.
The Maadi Regatta is the largest school sports event in the Southern Hemisphere, with over 2,000 rowers from 113 schools battling it out for titles like the Maadi Regatta and Levin 75th Jubilee Cup. The intense week of racing demands physical and mental resilience, and our team was there to help athletes stay in top shape. From massage to strapping and education on load management, we tailored our treatments to meet the unique needs of each rower.
Our physiotherapists at Body Performance Clinic take a holistic approach to support young rowers, helping them achieve their best results by treating them as whole individuals. Rowing demands intense physical effort, but it also tests mental focus and emotional resilience. Our team provides targeted treatments like massage to relieve muscle tension and strapping to stabilize joints, addressing the physical toll of repetitive strokes and high-intensity races. Beyond this, we offer guidance on load management, teaching rowers to balance training with recovery to prevent burnout. By addressing the body, mind, and lifestyle of each athlete, we empower them to perform at their peak and grow as well-rounded competitors.
Our team at Body Performance Clinic played a key role in keeping these athletes race-ready. The success of all schools, especially the large population of Waikato-based athletes, combined with our support, made the 2025 Maadi Regatta a memorable event. We’re thrilled to have helped these young athletes perform at their best and look forward to supporting the next generation of rowers.
